Lyme-Old Lyme High School is a community of learners committed to creating contributing citizens. To that end, On Friday, November 18, students kicked off the holiday season with an Advisory on the Gift of Giving. After watching the above video, Advisors facilitated conversations about how we can give. Together with their advisees, they crafted an action plan for the upcoming holiday season that embraces the “Gift of Giving.” Here are just some of the plans that students embraced:
to all the students and staff who made this weekend's performance of
such a huge success!
The acting, set design, stage changes, lighting... EVERYTHING... it was truly such a professional performance in all aspects.
Your talents, efforts and commitment made it a CLASS ACT!
LOLHS Girls soccer team win the CIAC Class S girls' soccer championship game on Saturday at Strong Stadium in West Haven! Winning goal was made by Caleigh O'Neil in the second half. Way to go girls! Your team work, sportsmanship, spirit and support of one another shine on the field and off! You make us proud... well done girls!
Last week, LOLHS students came together on November 11 to recognize and thank our heroes. Mr. Ed Shyloski Commander, Lyme-Old Lyme VFW Post 1467 spoke to our students as well as presented a donation of $3,000 to our Band and Chorus program for their trip to Hawaii to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor. Our assembly included music from the LOLHS Band and Chorus, a welcome speech from Matthew McCarthy, as well as a reading of Aoife Hufford’s award winning essay for the Voice of Democracy. We also viewed “A Soldier’s Story”, the story of a LOLHS graduate and WWII prisoner of war survivor, Mr Keenan. It was a reflective and heartwarming assembly.

Rotary Students of the Month
Lyme-Old Lyme High School is honored and proud to congratulate two scholars as the selected Rotary Club Students of the Month Award Recipients thus far this year. The Rotary Club recognizes a student from three area schools each month: Old Saybrook, Westbrook and Lyme-Old Lyme. Each month a predetermined department selects a student who best exemplifies the respective discipline. Also taken into consideration is how a student might embody the core beliefs of the Rotarian: community before self. Once selected, these students are invited to Old Saybrook Point Inn on a Wednesday morning to enjoy a celebratory breakfast with their families. Students are introduced to the audience by a department representative and given an opportunity to talk a little about what plans they have for their future. It is such a special event.
In October Natalie Rugg was honored for her work and accomplishments in English over the past four years. She has excelled not only as a student of English but as well as and accomplished writer in our school evidenced by the newly redesigned digital school newspaper of which she is editor-in-chief (see link on right side bar). She hopes to continue her studies of English at UCONN next year in the honor program.
Laura Lee Wayland was the November Student of the Month recipient for her success in Math.
Along with excelling in several advanced math courses, Laura Lee is part of the Mathletes Varsity Team which continues to rank #1 in their division and is part of the Robotics team. She hopes to study Engineering in college as well as continue to participate in Irish dance competitions, which she has been doing since first grade!
