This weekend eight delegates from LOLHS attended the annual UCONN Model United Nations Conference. Delegates worked tirelessly to debate topics and write resolutions to try to resolve them. A special congratulations to Billy Barry who won the Outstanding Delegate Award representing Kazakhstan in the United Nations Security Council and William Coppola for winning Best Delegate representing Afghanistan in the World Health Organization. We are super proud of each delegate for their efforts they put into this weekend. Students and Staff had some Halloween laughs on Monday. Student Leaders' and faculty judges selected the best costumes based on the categories and offered some fun activities during lunches...the mystery boxes were the best! Athletics page... The Chinese I classes are learning all about Chinese calligraphy - its cultural value and historical significance in the Chinese society; they are also becoming experts in understanding and deciphering the five different styles of calligraphy; as well, they are practicing this ancient form of writing that's not only known for its artistic value, but more importantly, for its communicative functions in language learning and its real life applications, such as its wide use in commercial signs. It's a great practice of patience, concentration, and self-awareness from a cultural perspective and everyone really enjoys it. Andy Zelek, Phoebe Evans, and Archer Evans took part in the Fire Prevention demonstration at Lyme School last week. Students learned important information, toured an emergency vehicle, and asked lots of questions. Ask them if you’re interested in volunteering with Lyme or Old Lyme Fire. NICE WORK WILDCATS! |
